When you install the new MuseHub, it will attempt to migrate your previous MuseSounds downloads, and clean up files created by the original MuseHub.
You may see a migration process running, which asks for elevated privileges (or "root access") so that it can move those files to a "per user" access level, and ensure that the previously installed content is modified so that the new MuseHub (which runs on a per-user, rather than a root level) can continue to access and update them.
macOS
On macOS, there is an additional "clean up" step the new MuseHub performs when updating from the original MuseHub, which is to remove a few files that are no longer needed. If the migration process is unable to do this, then you can always delete these manually:
Delete ~/Library/Containers/MuseHub
Delete /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.muse.service
If the Hub is unable to migrate your existing downloads, you may have to download the Muse Sounds libraries again from the new MuseHub.
Windows
The MuseHub migrator is no longer included in v2 MuseHub. Please follow the manual migration steps below:
1. Delete C:\Windows\System32\MuseSamplerCoreLib.dll
2. Copy your existing instruments to %userprofile%\Muse Hub\Instruments
These instruments will either be located in the default folder C:\ProgramData\MuseHub\Downloads\Instruments
Or if you have selected a custom location, {CUSTOM LOCATION}\Muse Hub Downloads\Instruments
The .instrument file should be located at %userprofile%\Muse Hub\Instruments\.instruments if everything was copied correctly.
3. Delete C:\ProgramData\MuseHub
4. Delete C:\ProgramData\MuseSampler
5. Launch MuseHub, find your existing sounds and download them. MuseHub will detect that these MuseSounds are partially downloaded, and will only download what's needed (your MuseSounds may be outdated)
6. Optionally move your MuseHub downloads directory elsewhere.
7. Launch MuseScore Studio, your sounds should appear.
